If i give my effort in something like doing my best on the homework, then i will get what i gave for the homework so i have good grades. If i participate a lot in the practice, then I will get to play a lot in the game and help the team to block the ball out of the circle. If I get to play a lot in the game then that means that I gave all my effort in the practice. If you give more your effort then you get more privileges, and this is what you gave to earn the privileges. So I think that you have to give what you have and get what you gave for it.
